The discussion going on now among journalists about how Twitter fits in the news ecosystem is very interesting, and it could impact the way we receive our news in the future.

As a fantasy football addict, I see it happening by the hour between journalists covering NFL news, where reporters are constantly breaking stories on Twitter and battling each other to get the tweet, story, or interview out there first. And then, of course, discussing who really got the story first after the fact and (sometimes) giving proper credit.

It’s really telling when a seasoned journalist like Sambrook makes the transition from journalist to Chief Content Officer for Edelman Public Relations. He truly believes (as I do) that companies/brands have to tell their own story directly to the public with or without journalism covering their story as well.
